Whether you're an off-roader that is tired of bending steering linkage parts or you own a street Jeep and are tired of poor handling, Rusty's Steering Conversion is the solution! Rusty's Steering Conversion is a complete steering system that replaces the factory "Y-design" with a more traditional wheel-to-wheel tie-rod and a drag link. This system is completely bolt-on; no drilling or reaming is required. It is as simple as removing the factory system and bolting the new Rusty's system in its place!

Rusty's tie-rod and drag link are constructed of 1-1/8" x .250-wall DOM tubing for incredible strength and durability. The steering conversion components are e-coated and then powder coated for a clean show-quality look that has exceptional durability. Rusty's steering system also comes with conventional tie-rod ends and can be purchased at any auto parts store should replacements be needed. Whether your running trails in Moab or Johnson Valley or the Smokey Mountains, any traditional auto parts store will carry replacement tie rod ends. This means no special-order parts that can potentially leave you stranded!

Rusty's is never satisfied with a parts we build; we are always trying to make things better and stronger. The machined parts of this kit have recently changed to offer more flexible mounting options for special applications and for more clearance between the tie rod and the track bar / stabilizer mounts on the axle.

In addition to the direct replacement kit, Rusty's can also make this an over-the-knuckle version. While this does raise the tie rod for better trail clearance, an over-the-knuckle version does require fabrication work and welding. This includes shims for the knuckles, a weld-on relocation bracket for the track bar, and weld on sway bar link brackets. Rusty’s can also custom-build our Steering Conversion for other applications; call us for details.

Note: ZJ Grand Cherokee's may use MOOG part # ES2223R at the pitman arm instead of the # ES140R
