NP231 Slip Yoke Eliminator + Tom Woods Driveshaft: What It Is, Why You Want It, And What It Fits
If you’ve lifted your Jeep and picked up driveline vibration, you’re not alone. The stock slip yoke on the back of the transfer case can’t handle the steeper angles that come with a lift. The solution is a Slip Yoke Eliminator (SYE) and a CV driveshaft — and we’ve got the best combo right here at Rusty’s.
We offer the Advance Adapters SYE Kit paired with a Tom Woods double-cardan driveshaft, giving you everything you need for a smooth, reliable driveline upgrade. Rusty’s handles the whole order process for you — one call, one shipment, and everything fits like it should.

Why Rusty’s Offers This Combo
After 45+ years of building, testing, and selling Jeep parts, we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t.
-
Advance Adapters builds one of the strongest and most proven SYE conversions on the market.
-
Tom Woods Custom Driveshafts has been a top name in the business for decades, known for precision-balanced shafts and quick turnaround.
By combining these two brands, Rusty’s customers get the perfect match of strength and performance — all backed by our experience and customer support.
What Vehicles Use the NP231
The NP231 “Command-Trac” transfer case came in:
-
YJ Wrangler
-
TJ Wrangler
-
XJ Cherokee
-
MJ Comanche
-
Some ZJ Grand Cherokees
If your Jeep runs the NP231, this package is made for you.
We also offer an NP242 SYE Kit for Jeeps running the “Selec-Trac” full-time 4WD system. Same idea, same benefits — smoother driveline, better angles, and a stronger setup.
Why Not Just Drop the Transfer Case?
A quick transfer case drop might mask vibrations for small lifts, but it’s not a long-term fix. Once you’re over about two inches of lift, a proper SYE and CV shaft setup is the only real solution.
You’ll get:
-
A stronger fixed-yoke output shaft
-
A longer, smoother driveshaft
-
Better operating angles
-
More suspension travel and flex
-
Less vibration and noise
It’s the difference between patching the problem and solving it.

A Few Notes
