The factory stamped steel transmission crossmember on 2007-2017 JK Wranglers isn't up to the task of serious four-wheeling. It's position makes the crossmember vulnerable to getting snagged on rocks and other trail obstacles, especially on longer wheelbase four door JKs. Whether you need to replace a trans crossmember that has been damaged on the trail or you simply want to add a beefy crossmember before damage occurs, Rusty has the solution with a crossmember that is Trail-Tested Tough!
Rusty's JK transmission crossmember is constructed of 1/4-in thick laser cut steel that is CNC formed and then robotically welded for an exact fit. It is a direct replacement for the factory crossmember and mounts using all of the factory bolt locations. Further, the bottom of the crossmember is formed rather than welded; this gives the bottom of the crossmember a smooth bottom instead of hard edges that can get snagged on rocks and rip welds. The crossmember is drilled to accept the factory transfer case skid plate, though 2007-2011 models will require trimming the factory skid plate to fit. Most aftermarket skid plates should be a direct bolt-in. Grade 8 mounting hardware is included.
As noted, 2007-2011 models will require trimming the factory transfer case skid plate to use this crossmember. Other year models need no modifications.
